On the 11th July 2002, we saw the biggest group of visitors to our facility in Tuas. They were here in our facility to be part of the "Pumps & Systems Seminar 2002" that was jointly organized by HOMA Pumps, DP Pumps, Shinwa Cooling Towers and Asiatic Engineering.

Mr Yap Bau Tan, our Managing Director, Asiatic Engineering P/L, opened the seminar with a speech re-iterating the need for us to give ourselves the slight edge and how this can be done through learning. The first presentation was done by Mr Hans Maue of HOMA Pumps who did a presentation on the HOMA organization, their products and features and impressed all present with a live connection over the Internet to the HOMA test bay in Germany. With this capability, HOMA Pumps can be tested in Germany and can be witnessed from anywhere in the world.

A sumptuous buffet lunch was arranged in the warehouse with participants eating with pumps all around them. For many this is a new experience. While having their lunch, participants were also able to move about the mini pump exhibition that was prepared, showcasing apart from HOMA, DP Pumps & Shinwa products were our Monoflo Pumps and fire protection pumps.

After lunch, Mr Laurens Kruit of DP Pumps gave a presentation covering the DP Pumps facilities in The Netherlands and the features of DP Pumps. This was followed by an impressive presentation of the Shinwa Cooling Towers executed by our very own Anthony Quek.

The seminar closed at around 5pm after a Q&A session. Our verdict; the seminar was a success. With close to 70 participants, lots of interests were generated on various aspects of the presentations. We had a good quality turnout with people from the HDB, PWD, various key consultants and even a group from our Indonesian customers.

The transformation of the warehouse and the Tuas new office into an impressive seminar cum exhibition facility was very commendable and all involved deserves a big pat on the back.
