ASIATIC VIETNAM INSTALLS FOR SWIRE COLD STORAGE

The Bac Ninh SWIRE COLD STORAGE project had its ground breaking on 12th August, 2016 at VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park, and is now in its final stages. The cold store is on track to go into operation on the 1st August, 2017.

SWIRE Cold Storage at Bac Ninh is the second cold storage of the SWIRE Group in Vietnam with an expected capacity of 20,000 pallets and to be built in 02 stages. Stage 1 consists of 6 rooms, 8,500 pallets. SWIRE Cold Storage Bac Ninh will be the most modern cold store in the north of Vietnam. Strategically located within close proximity to Vietnam’s principal cities, Hanoi and Haiphong, the two-phase project is expected to be completed over 03 years.

When Australian DEXION was awarded the 1st phase of the project to design, manufacture, supply, deliver and install their Double Deep Pallet Racking system for the SWIRE Cold Storage, Asiatic Vietnam being the distributor for DEXION in Vietnam, collaborated with DEXION on the installation of the racks. Asiatic Vietnam successfully delivered and erected the 10.2 metre high, more than 8,000 pallet location, Double Deep racking system in the Bac Ninh facility, as per schedule. The contract to Asiatic Vietnam to execute the project was SGD0.5 million.

“Double Deep is a conventional racking system ideal for warehouses that distribute products in high volumes. The double entry aisle allows 50% immediate accessibility with good stock rotation, giving the customer high efficiency with their supply chain performance. For the cold room structures, we used DEXION 808 uprights. The development and R&D invested in DEXION 808 earmarks it as our vision for the future. Not only can it go 60 metres high, the galvanised steel is proven to withstand extremely low temperatures. It also requires minimum maintenance and provides the lowest long term cost,” says Tee Chin Wee, DEXION’s Design Manager.
