Even as new regional hospitals in Singapore (Jurong and Sengkang) are being planned and built, older hospitals including the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL (NUH) here are being upgraded and expanded. An ageing population, coupled with growing affluence of our society, means that our healthcare needs are growing both quantitatively and qualitatively. NUH's current 25-year old physical infrastructure needs to evolve to meet the expanding and increasingly sophisticated healthcare needs of Singaporeans.
Part of this upgrading program, a new Utility Plant (Block) is to be built. Beca Carter Singapore, the M&E Consultant and NUH approved Asiatic’s SHINWA Cooling Towers for the HVAC system. Kurihara Kogyo Ltd, HVAC contractor for this project, awarded Asiatic an order valued at $1.2 million to supply & install 6 nos. SHINWA Cooling Tower totalling, 9,000RT (Model SNC-U2450ASSDT x 3nos. & SNC-U1400ASSDT x 3nos.)
Due to tight project schedule and site condition, the towers had to be assembled off-site. 3 major sections were assemble at Asiatic’s Tuas facililty – the first section was the cooling tower leg support with the lower basin; the second section was the body with infill; and the fan casing comprise third section. All the sections were then delivered and hoisted to site before assembling them together on-site.
The cooling towers were commissioned in September, 2016.
