URACA, a leading manufacturer in the world for high pressure plunger pumps and high pressure cleaning units, with experience and know how of over 110 years, has successfully concluded a record contract in Beijing which is unique in the company’s history. Shenhua Group Corporation of China which is building the world's first coal liquefaction plant has awarded URACA the contract of six high pressure reciprocating pump systems in the value of nearly 14 million Euro.
Despite hard international competition and the unfavourable Euro exchange rate, the end customer nevertheless chose the pump manufacturer located in Bad Urach, in Southern Germany. The decisive factors in favour of URACA were: technological headway, a leading market position in the field of process and industrial pumps and world-wide confidence in the trade mark URACA. It's not surprising as URACA had already designed and supplied the pilot plant for the coal liquefaction plant nearly 30 years ago. The expensive and time consuming process of the past has meanwhile turned out to be an economic way to produce oil, also with regard to raw materials shortage and increasing oil and gas prices. For countries rich in coal and poor in oil and gas this environmentally friendly process provides energy security and autarky.
URACA will deliver six high pressure reciprocating pump systems for Shenhua Coal to Oil Plant. The pumps are designed for continuous operation and discharge coal slurry consisting of 50 % ground coal and 50 % hot carrier oil, at a pressure of 210 bar / 3.045 psi and a temperature of up to
290 °C /554 °F.
Delivery time will be September 2006. URACA will fulfill the engineering work for the high pressure pumps based on their hot oil know how and experiences of previous coal slurry projects. The Shenhua coal liquefaction plant will be in operation by 2007 and further plants are to follow. |
